Following the issue of a confusing press release by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), the government agency has confirmed that laden vehicles will not be required for periodic Driver CPC training.
The statement, issued last month, contained a paragraph stating that the new laden vehicle requirements, which officially take effect from 30th September 2013, will apply to periodic training.
However, a number of training firms queried the announcement, resulting in the DSA having to state that this is not the case.
Representatives from the Association of Trainers (ASOT) have also asked the DSA to provide clearer guidance on this subject.
Training firms across the UK will be permitted to train students using laden vehicles from the 1st July, but this will only apply to module 4, practical examinations which take place as part of the initial Driver CPC training.
