It’s that time of year again when truck manufacturer Scania starts its “Young Truck Driver of Year” competitions. This is a global event where some of the best HGV drivers around the world complete to become “Young Truck Driver of the Year”.
This year it is estimated more than 55,000 drivers from 39 countries will take part. The Scania competitions are an opportunity to show off skills, knowledge and professionalism against some of the best drivers in the industry. It also highlights the important role the professional LGV driver plays in today’s society.
As Leif Ostling, President and CEO of Scania puts it.
“The driver is the single most important factor for economy, environment and safety. Skilled and committed drivers deliver transport efficiency, reduce emissions and contribute to better road safety”
The winner of the competition is rewarded with a brand new Scania truck and the coveted title of “Young Truck Driver of the Year” The competition originally started back in Europe in 2003 but, over the years has gradually spread to cover other regions of the world.
