A 19 year old HGV driver from Lincolnshire is calling on the insurance industry to set lower premiums for young lorry drivers.
Lizzy Coulson from Middle Rasen obtained her HGV licence to help her father transport sheep on their family farm. When she tried to get insurance, she was quoted an unaffordable £11,000 a year. Insurers also suggested she waited until she was 23 years old in order to reduce the premium.
The insurance industry blames a wealth of national statistics showing a high number of young drivers having accidents, therefore discouraging insurers to reduce their charges.
