LGV and PCV Students taking their practical driving test are being instructed to turn up as usual on either the 8th or 15th June. This despite the potential for strike action by the Public Commercial Services Union (PCS.)
The PCS is the union that represents Driving Standards Agency (DSA) driving examiners, although not all DSA driving examiners are PCS Union members.
The PCS has announced a series of rolling strikes throughout the summer in a dispute over the government austerity plans. It is hope any disruption will be kept to a minimum.
The strike action may affect students who are taking their driving test on the afternoon of Friday, 8th June or Friday 15th June.
Students will not know if their driving test has been cancelled until shortly before the test itself is scheduled to take place. In light of this students are being told to turn up to the test centre at the correct time.
It is possible to cancel or rebook your driving test as long as this is done within the permitted DSA cancelation period.
If your test is cancelled as a result of industrial action there is no need to contact the DSA. They will contact you directly to arrange another suitable date and time.
If you have any further queries you can contact the DSA direct on 0300 200 11 22.
